2009 Lexus IS 250 AWD

Lexus knows they have built a slow website, and they don't care. I'm fine with that, because it's listed right there for everyone to see. On their "about this site" section, they plainly tell us a broadband connection is recommeded, as well as a host of plug-ins. That makes sense; their market segment would not be expected to pinch pennies on lower-level connection speeds like std. DSL or the variety of "lite" connections out there. I like being up-front like that. I have a fairly slow connection, and a 8 year old PC. I could not get the Lexus site to work properly. But they did keep it easy for me to link YOU to the various models, and they put prinable versions of their spec sheets on the site. Note: I don't cover the GX or LX SUV's because both are based on a full frame chassis; not unibodies, and so they fall outside the category of crossover as I define it.

2009 IS250 AWD

The Lexus IS sedan with AWD is still only available with the 204hp, 2.5 liter V6. It is coupled to a 6-speed paddle-shift-sequential automatic transmission. It has an engine immobilizer system for anti-theft. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I don't like the idea of a transponder sending a signal to my motor. Some day, somewhere, someone is going to come up with a reason why THEY should be able to turn MY car off, with ME in it. The IS250 w/AWD is listed at

2009 GS350 AWD The Lexus GS sedan with AWD is only available with the 303hp 3.5 liter, high compression V6. (GS 350) Like its smaller sibling, the IS, it is visually unchanged for 2009 and also incorporates the engine immobilizer. Standard are run flat tires. The GS450 is not available in AWD trim. 2009 LS 460 AWD The 5 passenger Lexus LS sedan with AWD is available as the LS 460 or the $105,885 LS 600h L powered by a 5 liter V8 hybrid powertrain.The standard AWD LS 460 with 357hp will run a 1/4 mile in 14.3 seconds, while the same engine in the 460 L version delivers 380hp. The "L" version bumps the wheelbase from 116.9" up to 121.7" . Both are backed by an 8 speed (yes, 8 speed) automatic transmission. MSRP for the 2009 AWD LS 460 is listed at $67,200
2009 RX350 The Lexus RX 350 AWD is getting a little long in the tooth, but is still a good value. It gets its power from a 270hp version of the 3.5 liter V6. This 5 passenger crossover has a 5 speed automatic transmission (no manual option), and is also available with a hybrid CVT power train as the $43,480 RX 400h AWD. Prices for the 2009 RX350 AWD are up only a couple of hundred, and start at $39,100
