Mazda AWD Choices
The CX-7 carries a de-tuned version of the 2.3L DISI intercooled turbo engine in 244hp trim; still pretty potent. The CX-7 is available in Sport, Touring or Grand Touring livery, and each has an AWD option.The largest AWD Mazda is the new CX-9, with added room for the kiddies on a larger platform than the CX7, and V6 power.
The hybrid Tribute is now available, called the Tribute HEV. Because of the electric motors doing much of the city driving grunt work, the 4 wheel drive Tribute HEV returns 29mpg for the city, and 27 highway mpg. But be quick if you want one. Only 350 will be made, and they will be sold exclusively in California.

All Mazda CX-9 versions are powered by a 273-hp Ford 3.7 liter DOHC motor. It sits on a long 113.2 inch wheelbase, which tends to smooth out bumps and provides the room for 7 passenger, three row seating. The CX-9 is only available with a 6 speed automatic transmission. There are 2 Mazda Tribute equipment levels; the i and the s series.The base "i Sport" series has a 153hp 2.3-Liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cyl. with a 4-Speed automatic. The s series comes with the 200hp 3.0L 6 cylinder for about $1,300 extra. Both have Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trim levels.
