Mercury AWD Choices
Mercury gets aggressive this year with its pair of AWD price fighters. By adding the AWD option to the base Sable (Montego), they were able to reduce the AWD version base price by some $4,000. It puts them in a much more competitive position. The Milan needs to be upgraded from the base in-line 4 cylinder motor to the 3.0 liter V6 to get the AWD option. Still, that brings it in some $2,000 under the Sable..

The Mercury Milan with AWD is only available with the3 liter, 24 valve V6 Duratec mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. The AWD option is available on both the base and Premier trim levels. Both are powered by the same motor as last year's Montego. Prices for the AWD Milan start at $23,825 |

The Mercury Sable ditched the CVT (constantly variable transmission) in favor of a 6 speed automatic transmission for 2008. Powered by a stronger 263hp 3.5 liter, 24 valve V6 Duratec motor the combination should make a much more drivable platform. Having added the AWD option to the base model, prices for the AWD Sable start several thousand dollars lower than last year's Premium only variant, at $25,390 |
